Privacy Policy for DUO
This policy explains what DUO does with your information. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past, so it is short.
The short version
DUO is a two-player arcade. We do not ask for your name or email address, and we do not run analytics. What leaves your device is what Google needs in order to show ads, to process a purchase, and — only if you turn on World Rank — to place your score on a public leaderboard. Each of those is described below.
What stays on your device
DUO saves a small amount of data in your device's local app storage so the app behaves the way you left it:
- High scores and play counts for each game
- Settings — sound on/off and volume, vibration on/off and strength, background music on/off, and how long the exit button must be held
- Whether you bought Remove Ads, and how many games you have played since the last ad
This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it. Uninstalling DUO deletes it.
Advertising
DUO shows a full-screen ad after every few games. The ads are served by Google AdMob. To choose and measure an ad, Google may collect and use your device's advertising ID along with technical information such as your device type, coarse location derived from your IP address, and which ads you were shown.
Google's own privacy policy explains what it does with this: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings, usually under Settings → Google → Ads.
We never see this data ourselves. It goes from your device to Google. We only receive an aggregate count of how many ads were shown.
If you buy Remove Ads, DUO stops requesting ads entirely and no advertising data is sent at all.
Purchases
DUO offers one optional, one-time purchase: Remove Ads. It is handled entirely by Google Play Billing.
- We never see or store your payment details. Google processes the payment and tells the app only whether the purchase exists.
- Your purchase is confirmed with Google Play the first time you are online after buying, and is then remembered on your device so the app keeps working offline.
World Rank (optional, off by default)
DUO has a World Rank setting that compares your total score with players worldwide. It uses Google Play Games Services.
- It is off until you turn it on in Settings. While it is off, your scores stay on your device and nothing is sent.
- Android signs you in to Play Games automatically when a game starts; that is a Google platform behaviour, not something DUO asks for. DUO does not read or send anything from that profile unless you turn World Rank on.
- With World Rank on, your total score and your Play Games display name are sent to Google and shown on a public leaderboard alongside other players. We do not send your individual game scores, and we never see the leaderboard data ourselves — it lives with Google.
- Turning World Rank off stops any further scores from being sent. Scores already on the leaderboard are held by Google; you can manage or delete your Play Games data at https://myaccount.google.com/
If you have no Play Games profile, or your device has no Google Play services, DUO simply shows your own local total score instead. Every game still works.
Playing offline
Without the purchase, DUO needs a network connection in order to show ads, so games require a connection. With Remove Ads, DUO plays fully offline.
Children
DUO contains no violent, sexual, or otherwise mature content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app shows advertising, we recommend that a parent decide whether it is appropriate for a young child, or buy Remove Ads to turn advertising off completely.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of DUO handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version is published, and the effective date above will change.
